A rare item of real beauty.  This single stylish Scottish paper knife, is assayed for Edinburgh 1833.  Combining the elegance of the hand worked 18carat gold handle, worked around the carved moss agate handle, the strength of the silver gilt blade, it is both functional and fabulous.  If you enjoy writing and receiving letters, this may well be the item for you.  The 18carat yellow gold detailing to the top and base of the moss agate handle is made during the reign of William IV.  The year of the assay mark is important in our history, as it was the year parliament enacted The Slavery Abolition Act of 1833.

This paper knife and letter opener is sumptuously appealing.  Set in a silk-lined box, which is not its original, it makes a great statement and is in extremely good order.
